YOUTH FIRESETTER INTERVENTION PROGRAM (YFIP)

A youth firesetter is a child under the age of 18, who accidentally or purposely starts a fire. Each year youth set fires cause hundreds of injuries and deaths and destroy property.

Youth firesetters can be referred to Bureau of Fire Protection and Life Safety via family, friends, school staff, fire fighters and other government agencies. Once a youth fire setter has been identified they can volunteer to have a trained member of our staff to provide an assessment of their fire setting risk. It may be recommended that the youth seeks treatment or participate in a formal youth fire setter program. We are dedicated to assisting youth  with the issues related to fire curiosity, fire experimentation, and fire setting.
